CVE-2026-65102: DeepStream Tensor Dimension Memory Overflow

Initial release – 29th September 2026

Preface: This is historically one of the most prominent deployment categories for DeepStream.

Smart Cities & Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS)

•Traffic Flow Monitoring: Real-time counting of vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists at intersections.

•Automated Incident Detection: Instantly alerting city operations to vehicle accidents, stalled cars, illegal parking, or wrong-way drivers.

•License Plate Recognition (LPR): Processing hundreds of camera feeds simultaneously to match plates against toll or parking enforcement registries.

Background: According to the official NVIDIA DeepStream Security Bulletin, CVE-2026-65102 is an integer overflow vulnerability (CWE-190) caused by supplying crafted tensor dimensions inside the YAML configuration file.

Here is exactly how the vulnerability maps to the stages shown in your infographic:

Where the Flaw Occurs (The Root Cause)

The vulnerability targets the DeepStream configuration parser and runtime layer (Gst-nvinfer / Gst-nvdspreprocess) further down the pipeline block.

•When you supply malicious or exceptionally large values inside YAML parameters like infer-dims: C;H;W or network-input-shape, the GStreamer memory allocation system suffers an integer overflow.

The Impact on Point 4 (The Serialized Engine) – Please see the accompanying infographic.

While the engine binary itself remains uncorrupted on your disk, the vulnerability compromises how memory is allocated for it:

1.             Invalid GPU Buffer Allocations: The integer overflow tricks the runtime into allocating a memory buffer that is far too small for the actual tensor being processed.

2.             Execution Crash or Exposure: When the pipeline attempts to feed the batched GPU tensor into the primary_detector.engine, it causes an out-of-bounds write or read.

3.             Exploitation: This leads directly to Denial of Service (pipeline crashes), Information Disclosure (leaking GPU memory data), or Data Tampering.

Vulnerability details: CVE-2026-65102      NVIDIA DeepStream contains a vulnerability where an attacker could cause an integer overflow by supplying crafted tensor dimensions in a YAML configuration file. A successful exploit of this vulnerability might lead to denial of service, information disclosure, data tampering.
